A Portable Multi-Channel Turbidity System for Rapid Detection of Pathogens by Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification

Abstract: This study aimed at developing a portable multi-channel turbidity system (21 cm in length, 15.5 cm in width and 11.5 cm in depth) by real-time loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) method for rapid detection of pathogens. The developed system herein includes temperature control unit, photoelectric detection unit, turbidity calibration unit, power management unit, human machine unit, communication unit and ARM-based microcontroller. The coefficient of variation for eight channels is less than 0.25% in n… Show more

“…The targets of biosensors also include the pathogens that cause diseases in humans, such as cancerous cells, harmful bacteria, and viruses [ 127 , 128 , 129 , 130 , 131 ]. The main method of detecting cells and bacteria was achieved by the interaction between cell membranes and compounds that have a strong affinity for cells and bacteria [ 132 , 133 ].…”

“…These devices provide a wide range of qualitative or quantitative measurements for analysis [ 32 , 33 ]. Creating a chip-based [ 34 ], miniature [ 35 ], transportable [ 36 ], and self-contained device [ 37 ] that analyzes various analytes in intricate samples is one of the objectives of POCT [ 38 , 39 , 40 ]. POCT represents a paradigm change from traditional diagnostic tests in the clinical laboratory environment to near-patient settings, enabling doctors to make more informed decisions about diagnosis and treatment by giving them access to rapid diagnostic information.…”
