A portable wireless‐sensor system from all‐in‐one sensor array based hybrid solid contact layer for point‐of‐care ion monitoring in river basin

Abstract: The sensor arrays are considered as a promising way to aim at point-of-care (POC) testing for the detection of different ions in environment through the use of solid-contact ion-selective electrodes (SC-ISEs). However, the exorbitant equipment and intricate process for the production of SC-ISEs arrays has limit its application. Herein, the Au with nano-branched structure (Au NBS) and poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT : PSS) were decorated on the surface of bare pad of traditiona… Show more

“…A capacitor exhibits a sufficiently high-power density and can realize rapid charging and discharging cycles. , In an important example, the charging of the capacitor upon sample composition change was used to dramatically increase the sensitivity of the potentiometric sensor using a method called constant potential capacitive readout . An amplifier is always used with ISEs to amplify the signal, but this is not possible in a self-powered sensing system . Introducing a capacitor as a highly efficient energy storage device to self-powered electrochemical biosensors is another direct and effective method to improve sensitivity.…”

As an example, Zhang introduced a capacitor into a self-powered photoelectrochemical aptasensor that was 8.7 times more sensitive than a pure self-powered PEC aptasensor.…”
