A Prognostic Model for Newly Operated Highway Bridges Based on Censored Data and Survival Analysis

Abstract: The service performance of reinforced concrete bridges degrades overtime under environmental and vehicle loads. Accurate bridge deterioration analysis can provide a more scientific suggestion for the formulation of road bridge maintenance, strengthening, and reconstruction plans to ensure the operational safety of road bridges. Combined with bridge inspection data from the bridge database in Henan Province, we propose a prognostic model which is based on the Cox regression model for the service performance of … Show more

“…In addition, leads to a hazard ratio , which means that it increases the risk of the outcome event. Similarly, leads to the , which reduces the risk of the outcome event [ 3 , 7 , 33 ]. The calculation of the regression coefficients of the covariates requires a partial likelihood function, which is estimated using the maximum likelihood.…”

“…According to the author’s previous research results, it can be found that the decay speed of the bridge deck system, superstructure, and substructure levels is accelerated in turn [ 33 ]. We consider the performance decay prediction based on the technical status of the bridge superstructure and further explore the influence of each component of the bridge superstructure on the service performance of the bridge [ 16 ].…”

“…This funding must be boosted by 58% or otherwise, the current repairs won't be made until 2071, and the extra degradation over the next 50 years would become overwhelming [6]. It is therefore crucial to maintain the structural integrity of bridges to ensure that roads operate safely and reach their maximum carrying capacity [7,8].…”
