A Qualitative Approach to Understanding the Effect of Technology Adoption on the Middle East Upstream Oil and Gas Company's Operational Performance

Abstract

This study employs a qualitative approach to comprehensively understand the phenomenon, examining the impact of new technology adoption on the operational performance of an upstream oil and gas company in the Middle East. Despite the emergence of substitutes, it emphasizes the importance of oil and gas as essential energy sources. In order to accomplish strategic goals, the study emphasizes technological integration and ongoing business process improvement as critical components of operational performance, which is examined as a critical success element in the industry. The narrative turns towards a paradigm change in the historically conservative oil industry, recognizing a slow rise in innovative efforts for improving operations and concentrating on robotics and automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and system integration (IoT). This study assesses how these technological developments can optimize operations and increase efficiency, safety, and effectiveness.
