A qualitative study of recorded telephone support calls with mothers of preterm infants: Expressing both positive and negative feelings

Abstract: Every year, many infants are born preterm (<37 weeks of gestational age) worldwide, with a large proportion needing care in a neonatal unit (World Health Organisation, 2012). Hospitalization time for preterm infants may be lengthy, and mothers may experience feelings of anxiety about what life will be like once they leave the hospital for home.
