Abstract:Cycloalkanes were irradiated in the solid phase at 77 K. Post‐irradiation scavenging of radicals by dissolving the irradiated cycloalkane at low temperature (100 ‐ 165 K) in a propane‐oxygen mixture lowers the dicycloalkyl and cycloalkene G values to an extent of 35‐55%. From the Δ G decrease values, we propose that the trapped radical G values be 3.1, 2.7 and 2.7 at 77 K for cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl and cycloheptyl radicals, respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
