“…The intermediate coordination ͓͑ZnBr 2 ͑OH 2 ͒ 2 ͔ 0 ͒ was also found. [10][11][12][13] Regarding the exact geometry of the coordination of the Zn 2ϩ ions, there is evidence for tetrahedral coordination 6,[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16] as well as for octahedral coordination. 6,8 Another question is, if the coordinated Zn 2ϩ ions exist as distinct entities, or whether they are linked together to polymer species, i.e., chains of coordinated Zn 2ϩ ions that are held together by the fact that neighbouring Zn 2ϩ ions share one or even more ligands.…”

“…7a (18). This is due to the well-known autocomplexation that o'ccurs in zinc halide solutions as indicated by EMF, thermal and Raman spectroscopic experiments (18,23,28). Thus, Shchukarev et al (29) reported widely different TAS values for the formation of ZnBr § ZnBr2, ZnBr3-, and ZnBr42-complex ions.…”

“…This corresponds to the work of Morris et al 34 who found that a peak at 172 cm -1 corresponded to the ZnBr 4 2species. The peak at 205 cm -1 has been correlated with the ZnBr 2 species by both Morris et al 34 and Delaulle et al 35 However, Yellin et al 36 correlate the peak seen at 205 cm -1 with the ZnBr + species. The peak at 185 cm -1 is assigned to the species ZnBr 3 by both Delaulle et al 35 and Morris et al 34 From the above literature comparisons, the peaks obtained in this study for the Zn-Br species were assigned the following wave numbers: Figure 11 is interesting.…”
