“…Meanwhile, PAHs have received considerable attention as environmental organic pollutants in many continents, such as North America, Europe, and Asia. A great number of PAHs have been identified and quantified in these countries in virtually all segments of the environment due to their possible health effects at very low concentrations [22]. This area of research needs considerable attention in Ghana because studies carried out [17,20,21] show the presence of PAHs in the Ghanaian environment.…”

“…What is more, depending on PM components, which are being analysed, variety of filters and collecting materials are used. They are determined by chemical composition of filtering material, therefore by content of substances in so called black samples, so as by analytical methods limitations used in laboratories [25].…”

“…Since the destruction of PAH compound between gas and particulate phase is highly variable depending on the volatility of PAH compound, more volatile PAH tend to exist as vapor phase. Even three to five ring PAH have been found in the vapor phase, but most larger PAH exist in particular forms 17 . PAH emission rate from motor vehicles have been estimated by hundreds of filter and polyurethane foam samples collected in a tunnel 18 , but estimation of PAH emission rate from incineration involves larger uncertainty probably caused by variable sampling conditions and dynamic incineration state.…”
