A review on fast dissolving tablet

Abstract: These tablets are distinguished from conventional sublingual tablets, lozenges, and buccal tablets which require more than a minute to dissolve in the mouth. In the literature, ODTs also are called orally disintegrating, orodisperse, mouth-dissolving, quick-dissolve, fast-melt, and rapid-disintegrating tablets. Over the past three decades, orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs) have gained much attention as a preferred alternative to conventional oral dosage forms such as tablets and capsules. An ODT is a solid… Show more

“…Fast dissolving tablets are taken by the pregastric area, such as the throat and oesophagus, resulting in a rapid commencement of action [5,6]. This could result in higher bioavailability of active pharmacological drugs by dose reduction and clinical effectiveness with a reduced risk of side effects [7].…”

“…Pre compression tests Table (4) shows that all prepared formulas have good angle of repose, Carrʼs index %, Hausner ratio, void volume and porosity compared to pure drug, so all prepared formulas were then compressed and tested for post compression test. FTIR of tween 20 (80%) showed in Fig.…”

“…Salt formation, solubilization, particle size reduction have been used to increase dissolution rate, and thereby oral absorption and bioavailability of low water soluble drugs. Liquisolid technique has been utilized as effective strategy to improve the dissolution and bioavailability of poorly watersoluble drugs [4]. Haloperidol belongs to a class of drugs called Antipsychotics, 1 st generation CYP3A4 inhibitor, prescribed to treat the symptoms of schizophrenia and psychosis.…”
