A review on polymeric insulation for high‐voltage application under various stress conditions

Abstract: Polymeric material draws a great attraction in the development of insulation for High Votage Direct Current (HVDC) applications. Insulation material is the deciding key factor to increase the operating voltage and to transmit the bulk power with minimized power loss. Premature breakdown, high withstanding temperature, and impacts of space charge accumulation are all issues faced by the insulation material. Material qualities such as dielectric, electrical, structural, and mechanical properties are directly aff… Show more

“…The specific improvement is closely related to the micro nano oxides' type, doping content, shape, and surface modification. [7,[10][11][12][13][14][15] The effect of surface modification and doping content (2, 5, and 10 wt%) of nano SiO 2 (particle size of 10-20 nm) on the dielectric properties of nano SiO 2 /LDPE composites was investigated by the solution blending method by Lau. The surface-modified SiO 2 nanoparticles had better dispersion and better performance, and the longer the molecular chain of the silane coupling agent used for surface modification, the better the performance of the corresponding composite.…”

“…However, they reported formulations with up to 50% recycled material exhibited potential for electric insulating systems. In addition to the limited research available on the dielectric properties of recycled polymers, it is worth noting that several studies and review articles have examined the dielectric properties of virgin materials 12–15 . These studies provide valuable insights into understanding the behavior of dielectric properties of recycled materials.…”

“…High-voltage direct current (HVDC) is suitable for longdistance, high-capacity transmission and grid interconnection, facilitating the optimal allocation of resources on a large scale. [1][2][3] For areas where overhead lines are difficult to erect, gas-insulated transmission line (GIL) is used chiefly. At present, Al 2 O 3 /EP is commonly used at home and abroad as the insulation support for DC transmission equipment such as GIL.…”
