A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a wireless ad hoc network that is utilized in a specific scenario and is self- managed, self-organized, and non-centralized. To enable effective source-to- destination communication, a routing protocol is required due to the dynamic nature of the network's nodes and architecture. Because of its irregular and inconsistent use, MANET manipulates several spheres of life, including interpersonal communication, real-time information, rescue and emergency operations, network portioning, and catastrophe management. In order to manage time effectively, routing and maintenance are essential components and are being researched for MANET communication. The routing and maintenance process of a MANET, which dynamically changes its structure and nodes to transport data quickly, is the major topic of this study. Route discovery is the MANET research's motivating factor, and a number of methods have been put out for it. Each is expecting more than the other. This comparison study highlights problems with MANET communication maintenance and route discovery, such as which performs better under certain network circumstances. This study examines the literature on MANET route finding and maintenance approaches. Consequently, a comparison of several routing protocol approaches is done. These techniques contain some recommendations for enhancing performance through the use of routing protocols, particularly in the context of disaster management.

This paper presents a modification of a well-known routing protocol, namely Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector, as a solution to improve the performance of mobile ad hoc networks. We adapted the mobile agent technology as to novel metrics for routing in those networks. The metric is a function of the loss rate, the bandwidth and the end-to-end delay of the link. Indeed, we established a new tunable parameter to obtain a tradeoff between throughput and delay when computing the new metric. As a result, any routing protocol using this metric can al-ways choose a high-throughput and low-delay path between a source and a destination. Hence, the achievable performance of the mobile ad hoc networks has been improved remarkably with our modified routing protocol,

<span lang="EN-US">Mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a set of mobile wireless nodes (devices) which is not rely on a fixed infrastructure. In MANETs, each device is responsible for routing its data according to a specific routing protocol. The three most common MANET routing protocols are: dynamic source routing protocol (DSR), optimized link state routing protocol (OLSR), and ad-hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV). This paper proposes an efficient evaluation of DSR protocol by testing the MANETs routing protocol with variation in transmission power at different speeds. The performance analysis has been given using optimized network engineering tools (OPNET) modeler simulations and evaluated using metrics of average end to end delay and throughput. The results show that the throughput increases as the transmission power increases up to a certain value after which the throughput decreases, also the network work optimally at a certain transmission power which varied at different speed.</span>
