A search for effects of short range correlations in proton spectra from collisions induced by 47 MeV/u projectiles

Abstract: An analysis of the energy spectra of protons emitted in reactions of 47 MeV/u projectiles with Sn and Au targets provides evidence for high momentum tails in the intrinsic momenta spectra of the projectiles. These high momentum spectra decrease with wavenumber k at a rate proportional to 1/k 4 . We suggest that additional experiments could provide a more refined value for the value of the power law exponent.

“…Interesting indications have been found very recently of SRC effects on the cooling of protoneutron stars, the formation of baryon resonances, dark matter, and nuclear pasta as well as on tidal deformation and mass-radius correlation in neutron stars [680][681][682][683][684][685][686][687], and also on several features of nuclear matter and heavy-ion reactions [688][689][690][691][692][693][694][695]. However, much more work remains to be done to systematically and consistently address the SRC-related issues in hadronic transport simulations (see Section II A).…”

“…More recently, the SRC-induced HMT has been found to affect particularly the dynamics and emissions of energetic nucleons, hard photons and/or the production of deeply sub-threshold particles in nuclear reactions [17,[53][54][55][56]. Interestingly, a very recently analysis of the energy spectra of protons emitted in reactions of 47 MeV/u projectiles with Sn and Au targets provides new evidence for the 1/k 4 shape of the HMTs in the intrinsic momenta spectra of the projectiles [57].…”

“…Using the last two as independent parameters and assuming they have the same isospin dependence, i.e, Y J = Y 0 (1 + Y 1 τ J 3 δ) [148], the associated parameters were correspondingly constrained to be about C 0 ≈ 0.161 ± 0.015, C 1 ≈ −0.25 ± 0.07,φ 0 ≈ 2.38 ± 0.56 and φ 1 ≈ −0.56 ± 0.10 using information from the SRC experiments [95,152], see, e.g., Ref.
