A service-oriented system for distributed data querying and integration on Grids

Abstract: a b s t r a c tData Grids rely on the coordinated sharing of and interaction across multiple autonomous database management systems. They provide transparent access to heterogeneous and autonomous data resources stored on Grid nodes. Data sharing tools for Grids must include both distributed query processing and data integration functionality. This paper presents the implementation of a data sharing system that (i) is tailored to data Grids, (ii) supports well established and widely spread relational DBMSs, an… Show more

“…In [12], a middle-layer structure was proposed to integrate and query XML data sources. To deal with the coordinated sharing and interaction across multiple autonomous database management systems on data grids, a service-oriented system for distributed data querying and integration on grids was proposed in [13]. From the work presented in [9]- [11], we can see that mode conversion is the core of XML-based heterogeneous database integration middleware.…”

“…DP services are common nowadays [5]- [7]. Besides data-driven Web services, DP services can also be services built upon data centers, 2 Grid data sources [8], scientific services [9], pervasive and location-based data services [10], [11], data access service [12], [13], real-time data services [14], and even data correlation between Web pages [15]. Different from EP services which are usually modeled by means of input, output, preconditions, and effects [16], DP services have no preconditions and do not bring effects.…”
