Abstract:Nitisinone is a reversible inhibitor of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase and an active substance in the orphan drug used for the treatment of hereditary tyrosinemia type I, a rare genetic disease caused by mutations in the gene for the enzyme fumarylacetoacetase.
