Abstract:In the present work, a spectral solver is developed for integration of certain differential equations of solid mechanics, namely static stress equilibrium in composite materials, described in cylindrical or spherical polar coordinates. The spectral approach is encompassed in approximating the displacement field using expansion into a series of Chebyshev polynomials in the radial coordinate and complex exponents in the angular direction. Consequently, differential operators in real space become algebraic operat… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
