Abstract:We study two moderate earthquakes that occurred offshore the State of Veracruz, in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, on 29 October 2009 (Mw 5.7) and 4 August 2021 (Mw 4.8). The former was located near the town of Alvarado and latter near the city of Veracruz. The events were well recorded by accelerographs and seismographs at local and regional distances.
