DISCUSSION The finding that A. israelii, A. naeslundii, B. matruchotii, and C. albicans may be of oral disease caused by any one of these organisms confirms the results of many previous investigators.1-7, 10, 14-16, 18, 20, 22-24, S30, 39, 41-45, 50 52, 54-58, 60a62, 65 74,[76][77]79 In addition, the results reported here provide more precice information than has been available previously on "how often and in precisely what situations"22 these species may be found in the oral cavity. They also confirm the findings of Hemmens, Blayney, and Harrison<'9 that filamentous forms are more common in plaque cultures than in Rooaoo, 'i §oo,,oo saliva, while the reverse is true of yeasts.…”
