A configurable Compass/GPS multiband GNSS RF receiver with wide bandwidth in a heterodyne radio topology is implemented in a 0.35µm SiGe BiCMOS process. By programming the synthesizer to generate different local oscillator (LO) signals, the proposed receiver downconverts GNSS signals in L1/B1/B2/B3 bands to an identical intermediate frequency (IF) of 46MHz. An automatic gain control (AGC) loop is adopted to improve the noise and anti-interference performance. The receiver achieves a total noise figure of less than 3.5dB and a maximum voltage gain of 112dB with 70dB dynamic range while consuming 32mA current from a 3.3V supply, with a die area of 3.5×3.8mm 2 including ESD protection pads.
