“…Some groups are focused on the impact of injection parameters (fuel injection pressure (FIP), injection rate, injection timing and fuel quantity) on combustion characteristics and emissions [8][9]. The influence of alternative fuel on performance, combustion and emissions has also been explored [10][11] with variation in injection parameters or injection strategies. On the other hand [12][13][14], the predictive model was developed based on quasi-dimensional (1D) or phenomenological and multi-dimensional (i.e., CFD) approach and validated for combustion and emissions of DI diesel engine with single and multiple injections (double, triple).…”

“…The authors concluded that high IP and split injection technology were very effective for better atomization of fuel and thereby the engine's performance. The effect of split injection strategy with two injection pulses on overall engine characteristics was analyzed by How et al 22 Khandal et al 23 analyzed the effect of double and triple injection of the fuel during the combustion phase on a small diesel engine. The result shows a lower mean cylinder pressure and temperature and a significant reduction in NOx formation.…”

“…Results show that a retarded IT with a short fuel injection interval between pilot and main injection period gives better results. Khandal et al 15 examined the multiple split injection strategies on CRDI single-cylinder diesel engines in their research work. An equal quantity of fuel was injected during each injection interval.…”
