A Study on the Condensation of Nitramide (NH2NO2) with Formaldehyde and the Characteristics of the Products Formed

Abstract: SummaryAttempts have been made to synthesize aliphatic polymethylene nitroamines through reactions between NH 2 NO 2 and CH 2 O. The process of synthesis has been achieved in a two-component system: wateraethyl acetate. The solubility of the obtained product, as well as, its susceptibility to chemical decomposition in different solvents have been studied The product's heat resistance and its temperature of selfdecomposition have been determined through the DTA-TG method Despite being an energetic material, it … Show more

“…[2] The targeted activation of the reactive sites of 1 strongly affects reaction outcomes. [7][8][9][10] For example, 4-nitrosemicarbazide (2) was first synthesized from 1 (Scheme 1). [3][4][5][6] In contrast, polar media greatly influence the chemical activity of 1 and favor various reactions through which a very wide range of useful and new products can be produced.…”

“…Another synthesis of keto-RDX involving N,N Hdinitrourea was recently published (4) . N,N H -Dinitrourea is also a precursor to nitramide a useful starting material for the synthesis of aliphatic nitramines (5) . In an earlier article dealing with the preparation of N,N H -dinitrourea, it was claimed to be unstable and not possible to isolate (6) .…”
