“…The value T c = 2.25 K for Ag 2 Pd 3 S is about two times larger than values previously reported [25,26]. Since we were unable to prepare samples that have a lower transition temperature in this research, it is hard to understand experimentally why the T c values are different from each other.…”

“…Thirty years later, Schaak et al reported that Ag 2 Pd 3 S could be synthesized by the rapid low-temperature solution method [26]. However, details of the crystal structure have not been completely resolved due to the difficulty of structural analysis of polycrystalline samples, although the basic crystal structure of Ag 2 Pd 3 S was expected to be the β-Mn-type structure [25,26]. In addition, superconducting properties also remain poorly understood.…”

“…XRD patterns for the Ag 2 S−Pd nanocomposite heated for 30 min at 300 and 500 °C are shown in Figure . Ag 2 Pd 3 S adopts the β-Mn structure, which is distinct from any structures that exist in the constituent unary and binary systems. The XRD data show that the diffusion and nucleation steps are complete within 30 min of heating, yielding the desired ternary phase.…”

“…For proof-of-concept purposes, we chose the Ag−Pd−S system to demonstrate the formation of a ternary phase. Nanocrystals of Ag 2 S and Pd are easily synthesized according to literature methods, , and can serve as robust precursors to ternary Ag−Pd−S phases. Ag 2 S nanocrystals were synthesized, isolated by centrifugation, washed, and then added to a freshly prepared solution of PVP-stabilized Pd nanocrystals 21 in a 1:3 ratio of Ag 2 S to Pd.…”
