A SURVEY: Duty cycle based routing and scheduling in wireless sensor networks

Abstract: Wireless sensor networks consist of spatially distributed sensor nodes, which can sense the environment by collecting, processing and transmitting the data to sink node. A critical issue in wireless sensor networks since most sensors is equipped with non-rechargeable batteries. The lifetime of a sensor network can be extended by jointly applying different techniques of scheduling and routing schemes also brings great challenges to the design of efficient distributed routing protocols for multi-hop wireless sen… Show more

“…At the protocol level, the duty cycling scheme is integrated as a separate functional module of the MAC or a separate independent upper-layer protocol or a cross-layer protocol operating on top of the MAC protocol. The duty cycling based MAC protocol can be synchronous or asynchronous [114], [115]. In a synchronous protocol, each node in the network is aware of its neighbors' active/sleep schedule.…”

“…The author had designed this Android application mainly to file the complaints and take actions quickly. By using this system the citizens work time can be saved and the municipal authorities can easily identify the problems to solve [11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18]. Online Complaint Management System Online [6] Complaint Management System provides an online way of solving the problems which is faced by the peoples to save their time and eradicate corruption.…”

“…Moreover, to appreciate the importance of combining routing with duty-cycled MAC protocols in order to reduce the energy consumption of the sensor node, readers can refer to the survey by Nithya and Mahendran [20]. In [20], the authors have described different types of scheduling methods for duty-cycling in the MAC layer and routing schemes, including opportunistic routing. They analyzed protocols and presented their respective pros and cons to show their effectiveness with regard to energy efficiency.…”
