Recently, critical projects were developed using wireless sensor network (WSN) such as medical and military projects. Performing reliable communication in WSN is extremely important for such projects. To be able to perform reliable communication, packet loss must be minimal. Packet loss, energy and latency are the most serious problems for transport protocols. In this paper, reliable, energy-and delay-sensitive transport layer protocol (ALORT) has been developed for WSN. The proposed protocol provides optimum reliability, optimum packet latency, minimum energy cost and high packet delivery ratio by changing loss recovery mechanism (LRM) according to channel error rates. ALORT algorithm is compared with PSFQ and DTC in terms of packet delivery ratio, end-to-end latency and energy cost by MIXIM framework in OMNET??. ALORT algorithm reduces energy cost and end-to-end latency and increases packet delivery ratio.

Purpose -Congestion control is a very important area within wireless sensor networks (WSN). Congestions usually occur when traffic influx becomes greater than the aggregated or individual capacity of the transmitting channels. The constrained resources of the WSN must be considered while devising such techniques to achieve maximum throughput. This research reviewed existing algorithms to identify their strength and weaknesses.Method -The Researchers used a survey method to identify existing works and reviews on congestion management and control in Wireless sensor Networks this was done by identifying and categorizing various classes of congestion control.2228 Conclusion -This paper presents a review of most of the existing approaches and algorithms in addressing congestion. The benefits of addressing congestion are also discussed in this review paper. The paper also made suggestions for future study.Recommendation -Robust congestion checks should be implemented in wireless sensor networks to curb the level of packet drops thereby increasing network throughputs. Also, a hybrid algorithm that leverages the strengths of existing algorithms should be proposed and implemented.Practical Implication -This research will not only benefit academia, industries that implement wireless sensor networks, especially in healthcare will benefit tremendously from this research as the recommendations of this research will certainly aid the implementation of efficient and robust wireless networks.

Since traditional automation relies on wires, the machines’ versatility will be restricted. Thus maintenance is required to prevent cable wear and breakage, which would be costly and highlighted the importance of wireless connectivity in overcoming some of the limitations of conventional factory automation. Moreover, two of the most critical considerations, reliability and latency, need to be fulfilled so that a factory automation system can perform flawlessly. However, in factory automation, 0ms is the perfect condition since many machines share the same network. Furthermore, it can only reduce latency to a certain extent but not to zero. This study focuses on wireless networks for Industrial Automation Factor Automation’s system architecture, including network devices and topology, and then demonstrates one of the wireless networks’ main technologies, retransmission. This paper develops a mathematical analysis based on Negative Acknowledgement (NACK)-based retransmission mode as default retransmission for field devices to send data frames to the gateway device periodically. The results demonstrate an automatic on-demand retransmission (AODR) scheme able to provide higher efficiency of retransmission rate.
