Modeling approaches based on standards are of paramount importance in the field of front-end design for web and mobile applications. Problems are often encountered during the selection of tools for designing applications for developers and researchers, particularly applications that are related to time and cost in the market and academia. The Interaction Flow Modeling Language (IFML) is a recently standardized modeling language designed for managing the content expression, user interaction and behavior control of front-end applications. IFML brings several benefits to the development process of web and mobile front-end applications. Thus, several tools have been developed for the exploitation of technical artifacts offered by current specifications. In this study, we discuss the tools proposed for modeling IFML to provide a comparative analysis while considering various criteria. The result can be used as a basis of tool selection for specific aspects.

The growth of mobile applications has been exponential in the last couple of years and it has come with technological advances, such as embedded sensors in mobile devices. This brings out greater challenges in the development of context-aware mobile applications, according to the demands of the current market. Currently, there are building approaches for this kind of applications, but these do not have flexibility in the generated applications. Until now, there is not a unified solution for this kind of applications, so, this is an open research area. This paper presents a taxonomy of variability concepts (Relevance, Combination, Precision and Accuracy's Margins, Configuration Type, and Execution Type) to be taken into account when designing building approaches for context-aware mobile application. When these approaches are designed from scratch considering these variability concepts, this allows generating a wide variety of applications. The contribution of our taxonomy is to help the designer to identify the potential variability points in order to obtain more flexible approaches. The aim is to generate a discussion in relation to the variability concepts of the proposed taxonomy, this provides guidelines to be able to achieve variability in this kind of approaches. We hope this will enrich the discussion in relation to this kind of approaches in order to the unification of features that should be handled by these building approaches to obtain variability.

Nowadays the software industry has known a significant growth, while the end-users have become very demanding. In this sense, the model transformation has become one of the essential solutions to ensure competitiveness in the field of the software industry domain. For that, the Object Management Group (OMG) proposes for the Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) approach three abstraction levels, namely Computation Independent Model (CIM), Platform Independent Model (PIM) and Platform Specific Model (PSM). Therefore, our contribution in this paper is to shed more light on the first MDA transformation, which is the transformation from CIM to PIM levels. We propose a disciplined Model-Driven approach for the e-business information system, which generates the IFML (Interaction Flow Modeling Language) model automatically in the PIM level from business value model in the CIM level, using the ATL transformation language. For this purpose, the business value model is illustrated by the E3value model, whereas, the IFML model exhibits the front-end applications content, interface composition, user interaction and control behavior for several kinds of applications, such as web applications, mobile applications and desktop applications.
