A vehicular wireless sensor network for CO<inf>2</inf> monitoring

Abstract: Abstract-Micro-climate monitoring usually requires deploying a large number of measurement tools. By adopting vehicular wireless sensor networks (VSNs), we can use fewer tools to achieve fine-grained monitoring. This work proposes a VSN architecture to realize micro-climate monitoring based on GSM short messages and availability of GPS receivers on vehicles. We demonstrate our prototype of a ZigBee-based car network to monitor the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) gas in areas of interest. The reported d… Show more

“…The difference in (6) and (8) is due to the complementary nature of human mobility context parameters and also due to the fact that the distribution for pause time is less emphatic than that of flight length. The HMSCAR algorithm consists of four different phases and for its implementation clock synchronization among the nodes are required.…”

“…The Hashing technique is implemented using Biometric as shown in figure2. Now a days mobile computing with tiny devices has been explored very much rapidly [10][11][12][13][14][15]. The pollution monitoring application using Cell-Phone-based Sensor Network (CPSN) developed in [16] uses short-range communication outlets such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.…”

“…The Zigbee Alliance defines 7 application profiles including building automation, remote control, smart energy, health care, home automation among others. Besides, the research community is also investigating the usage of Zigbee in vehicular applications such as intra-car wireless sensor networks (Tsai et al, 2007), wireless vehicular identification and authentication system (Dissanayake et al, 2008), wireless sensor networks for CO 2 monitoring (Hu et al, 2009). …”
