A Watermarking Scheme for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)

Abstract: This paper presents a high payload watermarking scheme for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). HEVC is an emerging video compression standard that provides better compression performance as compared to its predecessor, i.e. H.264/AVC. Considering that HEVC may will be used in a variety of applications in the future, the proposed algorithm has a high potential of utilization in applications involving broadcast and hiding of metadata. The watermark is embedded into the Quantized Transform Coefficients (QTCs) du… Show more

“…The signs and phases of the motion vector difference and the signs of residual coefficients are encrypted by the key generated by Rivest Cipher 4 (RC4), and the hiding key is used to embed the data into the nonzero AC residual coefficients. In a past paper [100], a HEVC-based watermarking algorithm with high payload was proposed, and the watermark was embedded into quantized transform coefficients (QTCs) during the encoding phase. Based on all phase biorthogonal transform (APBT) and SVD, Wang et al [101] proposed a video watermarking algorithm against HEVC recompression.…”

“…A baseband watermarking scheme, on the other hand, can be used instead. There are a lot of baseband watermarking schemes, and some are robust against HEVC encoding [20]. Such schemes are preferred by providers who want to control the quality of content and at the same time ensure that it is robust against HEVC encoding.…”

“…Recently, Swati et. al., proposed a watermarking scheme for the HEVC [5]. In their algorithm the watermark was embedded into the quantized transform coefficients during the encoding process.…”
