Abstract:Starting from the rigorous quantum-field-theory formalism we derive a formula for the screened conductivity designed to study the coupling of light with elementary electron excitations and the ensuing electromagnatic modes in two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors. The latter physical quantity consists of three fully separable parts, namely intraband, interband, and ladder conducivities, and is calculated beyond the random phase approximation as well as from first principles. By using this methodology, we study t… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
