AB0212 Peripheral blood flow cytometric activity markers in systemic lupus erythematosus

Abstract: Background In Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) various compartments of the immune system are altered. Type I interferon (IFN) produced by plasmacytoid dendritic cells seems to play a central role. The expression of Sialic Acid–Binding Ig-like Lectin 1 (Siglec-1) on monocytes is a cytometrically measurable surrogate parameter for type I IFN and has been shown to correlate with disease activity in SLE.
