AB0577 Mean Platelet Volume is Associated with Behcet's Disease Activity

Abstract: Background Mean platelet volume (MPV) has been known to be a marker of platelet activity and influenced by inflammation. The correlations of MPV with disease activities were reported in several rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriasis. However MPV is controversial as a marker of their disease activities. Furthermore, the association of MPV with disease activity in Behcet's disease (BD) is not determined yet. Objectives The aim of this study is to investigate the a… Show more

“…[8][9][10][11] Mean platelet volume (MPV) is also indicative of the status of platelets and is also associated with inflammation. [12] In their literature review, Şahin et al found that only one study analyzed the relationship between MPV and RAO showing that MPV values were significantly higher in patients with RAO. [13] We could not find any publication that examined the association between NLR, PLR, and RAO.…”

“…A previous study has suggested that a relationship exists between MPV values and the presence and severity of inflammation in many systemic diseases. 21 To the best of our knowledge, there is no evaluation of MPV values in patients with iERM yet.…”
