ABCF1 extrinsically regulates retinal pigment epithelial cell phagocytosis

Abstract: Intracellular ABCF1 is identified and characterized as a new ligand to extrinsically stimulate retinal pigment epithelial cell phagocytosis. A new approach developed in this study is broadly applicable to many other phagocytes and will enable systematic elucidation of their ligands to broaden understanding of extrinsic regulation and cargo recognition.
