“…Patients with PKD usually are complicated by hypertension and renal dysfunction, and these complications may lead to the formation of AAA. 2,3,6,14 Recently, an outstanding hypothesis was proposed This report AA, aortic aneurysm; NS, not stated regarding the fact that matrix metalloproteinases synthesized and secreted by kidney tubules of PKD play a critical role in the development of a concurrent AAA, 15 and this biomolecular investigation thus indicated the existence of a close relationship between AAA and PKD.…”

“…The coassociation of AH with infrarenal aortic aneurysm has been described exceptionally 17 and in patients older than those with AH only. This suggests that agerelated degenerative processes or poststenotic hemodynamic mechanisms are involved.…”

“…[6][7][8][9] Though some studies did not find any association between ADPKD and aortic aneurysm, 10 others find that there was increased incidence of aortic aneurysm in patients with ADPKD ranging from 5-9.7% of patients. [11][12][13][14][15] The pathogenesis is still not clear; why some ADPKD patients developed aortic aneurysm and other do not. Whether the renal disease itself causes aortic aneurysm or is associated with the fact that many of these patients have hypertension, atherosclerosis and may are undergoing renal replacement therapy.…”
