Abstract: Background: Histone acetylation regulates gene expression in cancer and can be exploited for therapeutic targeting. Histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) increase histone acetylation, promoting transcription of genes involved in growth arrest and apoptosis and have been used as anti-cancer agents.
