Abstract:Background:
Intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV-tPA) remains the only drug for arterial recanalization in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Clot composition differs according to the stroke etiology- clot from heart being fresh and rich in fibrin while the clot from an ulcerated plaque is rich in cholesterol.
