The tomato root-knot nematode is one of the main phytosanitary problems in crops. Chemical control is the phytosanitary method most used by farmers, and the study of alternative management of phytonematodes is crucial. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of silicon dioxide (SiO2) on the initial development of tomato plants, as well as to determine the best dose of SiO2 for inducing resistance to parasitism by M. incognita. This experiment was set up under a completely randomized design with ten treatments and five replicates in a 5×2 factorial arrangement consisting of five concentrations of SiO2 (0, 0.15, 0.3, 0.45 and 0.6 g dm-³ of soil) with the presence and absence of M. incognita, under greenhouse conditions. The following variables were evaluated: plant height; number of leaves; fresh and dry weight of shoot; percentage of shoot dry matter; root fresh weight; number of galls; final population of nematodes; and population per gram of root. The M. incognita infection affected plant height, number of leaves and shoot fresh weight, while the application of SiO2 negatively affected the formation of galls in the roots of the inoculated plants and the population per gram of root, reducing the final population of nematodes in the root system. SiO2 also provided greater development in the tomato plants, with a significant effect on plant height. The ideal dose was 0.34 g dm-3 of SiO2.

Para o termo "Syzygium aromaticum", obteve-se um total de 43 artigos publicados, entre estes, um artigo aborda a atividade larvicida do óleo essencial de Syzygium aromaticum no controle de Aedes aegypti e um artigo aborda a eficácia da espécie Syzygium aromaticum no controle de fitonematoides (SALGADO;CAMPOS, 2003;ARAUJO et al, 2016).…”

Neste estudo de prospecção, buscou-se mapear as atividades biológicas nematicida e larvicida do óleo essencial do cravo-da-Índia e do eugenol. A prospecção foi realizada nas bases de artigos científicos PubMed, Scielo, Scopus e Web of Science, como também nas bases de depósitos de patentes da EPO, INPI, USPTO e WIPO, para isso, foram utilizadas palavras-chave específicas e combinações conhecidas das palavras-chave. Após a realização das buscas nas bases de dados de artigos, notou-se que pouco vem sendo pesquisado sobre as aplicações nematicida e larvicida do óleo essencial do cravo-da-Índia e do eugenol, tendo poucos artigos publicados acerca de tais ações biológicas, sendo estes encontrados em sua maioria em bases de artigos científicos internacionais. No que se refere às bases de depósitos de patentes nacionais e internacionais, identificou-se que não há nenhum depósito de patente acerca da atividade nematicida do óleo essencial do cravo-da-Índia e do eugenol, no entanto, algumas patentes elucidam o potencial larvicida do eugenol, demonstrando que há grandes oportunidades de pesquisas com as atividades biológicas do óleo essencial do cravo-da-Índia e o eugenol.

The black angico (Anadenanthera macrocarpa) contains some phenolic compounds, such as flavonoids and tannins, which are considered as secondary metabolites with antimicrobial properties and can be used in the nematodes management. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial (2 x 5) + 1 (leaf and bark x concentrations (20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 g L -1 ) + control water-only), with five replications. The cotton seedlings were inoculated with suspension of 4,400 juveniles and eggs of M. incognita. The extracts were applied on soil in a total of 100 mL per pot, in four installments of 25 mL each, in intervals of 15 days . After 60 days of the extracts application, agronomic parameters and parasitism characterist ics were evaluated. Plant height and fresh mass of aerial part presented considerable gain with application of leaf extracts. All extracts, regardless of concentration, showed independent suppressive effect to M. incognita. The black angico extracts presented potential capacity to control gall nematodes by the presence of metabolite compounds that affect the plants protection. These results reinforce the need of further studies regarding the isolation of chemical compounds with nematicide action.
