“…Patient comfort has a direct correlation with compliance to compression therapy [43]. The comfort findings of the present study suggest that the mild compression diabetic stocking is well tolerated in patients with diabetes and lower extremity edema and correlates well with other reports that low pressure, knee length compression stockings provide the most patient comfort [44, 45]. …”

“…215 In general, there are issues putting on and removing elastic stockings, especially in the elderly, which along with the sensation of warmth and deterioration of pre-existing pruritis associated with venous eczema, could account for the suboptimal patient compliance. 216 Additional issues include potential skin damage, and contraindications to use including peripheral arterial disease. Also, elastic stockings require proper fitting and, to remain effective, should be replaced at intervals of 3e4 months, according to the manufacturers' instructions.…”

“…Furthermore, they cause some discomfort such as too hot to wear, limb soreness and pinching of stockings to the skin. 7,1820 In order to reduce these shortcomings, some measures are adopted such as techniques for applying double stockings, in which one stocking is applied over the other, the combined use of bandages with the elastic stockings, separated elastic stockings, in which the elastic stockings are separated at the ankle region into two parts, leg and foot portions, and the application of pads or gaiters. 16,2022 In our previous study, 23 a significant increase in the pressure difference between muscle contraction and relaxation during exercise was observed with local compression at the calf by pads placed under the elastic stockings.…”
