“…In a small randomized trial, Bach and Hayes (2002) provided a few sessions of ACT to inpatients with psychosis. Patients were encouraged to accept unavoidable events, to acknowledge but let go of psychotic symptoms without treating them as either true or false, and to identify and work toward goals that were consistent with their broader life values (for a more detailed description, see Bach, Gaudiano, Pankey, Herbert, & Hayes, 2006). The ACT group showed a 50% reduction in rehospitalization rates by 4-month follow-up compared to the group receiving treatment as usual only.…”
