Acetic Acid and Ethyl Acetate as Solvents for Electropolymerization Reactions, Considering 4-Methoxyphenol and Composition of Solvent Mixtures

Abstract: Various organic compounds susceptible to anodic polymerization were selected to study the effects of two solvents: acetic acid and ethyl acetate. Phenol and most of its derivatives, as well as resorcinol and 3,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid, exhibited typical electrode deactivation similar to other solvents; however, a continuous decrease in peak currents was not observed for 4-tert-butylphenols or salicylic aldehyde.
