Acne inversa Eine Dapson-sensitive Dermatose

Abstract: Acne inversa is a chronic disease with a major impact on the quality of life. Therapeutic options were long restricted to local disinfectants and systemic antibiotics, as well as repeated incision and drainage which produce only short term benefits. Retinoids, antiandrogens and radiation therapy are only partially successful. The best approach appears to be surgical removal of the entire apocrine sweat gland apparatus. “…[68][69][70] Dapsone Dapsone has been found to be helpful in a small number of HS patients and is a reasonable therapeutic alternative for recalcitrant disease. 71 In a series of 5 patients, clinical improvement was noted in all 5 within 4 to 12 weeks, using doses between 25 and 150-mg daily. 72 All patients required maintenance therapy with dapsone at doses between 50 and 150 mg/d to sustain their disease control.…”

“…Dapsone combines several of these qualities, and 2 smaller case series have suggested it to be an effective drug in the treatment of HS. In 2001 Hofer and Itin [16] described the beneficial outcome of dapsone treatment in 5 women, and in 2006 Kaur and Lewis [17] published similar results from another 5 patients. In both reports, only positive outcomes were presented, and it was therefore decided to review a larger series of cases reporting all outcomes in order to provide firmer data for the evaluation of the potential of dapsone in this debilitating disease.…”
