Se forma como producto de la fibronectina tipo III teniendo en su dominio la proteína 5 (FNDC5), y es inducida por el receptor activado por proliferador de peroxisomas γ (PPARγ) y el coactivador transcripcional 1 a (PGC-1α) en el músculo esquelético (4). Esta pasa a la circulación y actúa sobre los preadipocitos específicos dentro del TAB (que responderían a estímulos para UCP1, a diferencia de los que quedan blancos, sin posibilidad de responder), modifica su desarrollo y pardiza las células al activar la programación celular para desarrollar su capacidad termogénica (5).…”
