Abstract:Buspirone, a 5-HT1A agonist, has been shown to decrease the intake of ethanol when given as a single dose to rats with a psychological dependence induced according to our rat model of alcoholism. The present experiment evaluates the effects different treatments with buspirone have on voluntary ethanol intake in these psychologically dependent rats.
