“…[2][3][4][5] In each case, there were recognized risk factors for ectasia including young age or forme fruste keratoconus. [2][3][4][5] In all cases, the rupture in the Descemet membrane created a fluid-filled interface between the LASIK flap and the posterior corneal stroma, and in 2 eyes, there was leak around the edge of the LASIK flap. 3,5 In each case, the surgeon chose to manage the patient by performing a penetrating keratoplasty.…”

“…7 On very rare occasions, corneal perforation may accompany acute hydrops; risk factors may include eye rubbing, pregnancy, topical corticosteroid use, and elevated intraocular pressure. 5,9 Corneal ectasia is a rare complication of LASIK and may occur years after uncomplicated refractive surgery. 10 Although the pathogenesis is not well understood, purported risk factors may include abnormal preoperative topographic findings (such as forme fruste keratoconus), low corneal pachymetry, a thin residual posterior stromal bed, high myopia, and young age.…”

“…[1] острый гидропс роговицы при далекозашедшем кератоконусе встречается с частотой до 30 %. В литературе описаны лишь единичные случаи возникновения гидропса роговицы у пациентов с вторичной эктазией роговицы после рефракционных операций [6,7]. Предполагается, это именно те ситуации, когда кератоконус не был выявлен до операции.…”

“…2 Occurrence of hydrops in a case of post-LASIK ectasia is extremely rare, and there are only a few isolated reports in the literature describing it. 3,4 We report a case of sequential bilateral acute hydrops in post-LASIK ectasia, leading to persistent interface fluid syndrome managed by full thickness compression sutures and intracameral perfluoropropane (C 3 F 8 ).…”
