ADA-CMM: A Capability Maturity Model for Advanced Data Analytics

Abstract: Despite the rising importance of advanced data analytics, there is limited guidance on how organizations should leverage it. The benefits that an organization can gain through advanced data analytics depends on the organization's ability to gain and use relevant capabilities. This study introduces a capability maturity model (ADA-CMM) for advanced data analytics to help organizations assess their current state of capabilities for managing advanced data analytics. We used the Delphi method to develop the maturi… Show more

“…Therefore, more research is needed into transparency concerns and the design of transparency mechanisms that can facilitate the specific needs of diverse users for different ADM systems. Our findings can guide further research in designing such mechanisms by considering which factors related to perceived fairness, accountability, or privacy, would be important in a specific ADM context and, in this way, help organizations gain the capabilities needed to create business value from ADM systems (Korsten et al, 2022). Further research should also consider the perspective of decision-makers and different ways of using the decisions provided by the ADM, e.g., for part or full decision delegation (Leyer et al, 2021).…”

“…Lastly, we assert that data analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in BPM in various phases are becoming widely used both in the context of BPM (Neu et al, 2021)) and BPA (Chakraborti et al, 2020). It is seen essential that organizations develop data analytics and AI capabilities for their processes to remain competitive (Kerpedzhiev et al, 2020;Klee et al, 2021;Korsten et al, 2022). Furthermore, such technologies are in close relation with BPM and BPA since they rely on data produced during the execution of processes (Miller, 2018).…”

“…The proliferation of digital technologies has revolutionized how organizations collect, store, and analyze data, enabling the use of data-driven decision-making to achieve strategic objectives. With the advent of big data and advanced data analytics, organizations are able to capture large volumes of data from diverse sources, including social media, sensors, and transactional systems [5]. Research also shows that organizations embracing data analytics are more likely to outperform their peers in innovation, productivity, and profitability [6].…”
