This paper investigates adaptive parallel simultaneous stabilization (APSS) of a set of uncertain nonlinear port-controlled Hamiltonian (PCH) systems subject to actuator saturation and proposes a number of results on the design of the APSS controllers. First, the case of two PCH systems is studied. Using both the dissipative Hamiltonian structural and saturated actuator properties, the two systems are combined to generate an augmented PCH system, with which, some results on the control designs are then obtained. When there are external disturbances in the two systems, an H 1 APSS controller is designed for the systems. Second, the case of more than two uncertain PCH systems subject to actuator saturation is investigated, and several new results are proposed for the APSS problem. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to show that the adaptive stabilization controllers obtained in this paper work very well.

The aim of this study was to design a constrained robust output feedback control strategy for stabilizing linear systems affected by uncertainties and output perturbations. The input is constrained by a saturation function. A classical Luenberger observer reconstructed the states from output observations. The state feedback control employed the estimated states given by the observer. This work proposed a Barrier Lyapunov Function (BLF) to manage the saturation problem in the control input. Moreover, an extended version of the attractive ellipsoid method (AEM) characterized the zone of convergence due the presence of perturbations in the output. A convex optimization procedure, formulated as a set of matrix inequalities, yielded the control parameters and the region of attraction for the close‐loop system as well as a minimal ultimately bounded set for the system trajectories. Numerical simulations supported the theoretical results formulated in this study.

SUMMARYAn efficient robust LMI‐based scheme is developed for decentralized state‐estimation of linear interconnected systems with static nonlinear interconnections and subjected to sensor nonlinearities. The interconnections satisfy quadratic constraints with manipulated parameters and the sensor nonlinearities are modeled as sector nonlinearities. The design procedure utilizes a general linear estimator structure and consists of two steps: the first giving a block‐diagonal Lyapunov matrix together with the robustness degree and the second determining the filter parameters. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the applicability of the method. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
