Advanced Technique for Enhancing Fracture Conductivity in Tight-Gas Condensate Reservoirs through Applying Liquid Resins: Case Histories from Burgos Basin, Mexico

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to identify challenges related to optimizing hydraulic fracturing in tight-gas condensate reservoirs using liquid resins to coat fracturing proppants. The selected case histories illustrate specific documented solutions of recent, successful approaches using this technology in the Burgos basin by analyzing production behavior before and after treatment in an exploratory well. When discussing post-treatment production evaluation, the immediate pressure response an… Show more

“…4,5,6 Fracture-fluid clean-up efficiency is highly related to proppant volumes, multiphase flow, proppant crushing, polymer filter cakes and yield stress of concentrated gel in fractures. 7,8 Recommendations to improve fracture clean-up efficiency have been made in previous work, 9 including chemical additives, 10,11,12 water evaporation, 13 coated fracturing proppants, 14,15 and microwave heating. 16 Limited work has shown a rule to adjust a choke size to maximize fracture clean-up efficiency.…”
