Advances in the Application of Electrospun Drug-Loaded Nanofibers in the Treatment of Oral Ulcers

Abstract: Oral ulcers affect oral and systemic health and have high prevalence in the population. There are significant individual differences in the etiology and extent of the disease among patients. In the treatment of oral ulcers, nanofiber films can control the drug-release rate and enable long-term local administration. Compared to other drug-delivery methods, nanofiber films avoid the disadvantages of frequent administration and certain side effects. Electrospinning is a simple and effective method for preparing n… Show more

“…The morphology and properties of NFs are mainly determined by the following three aspects: process parameters, the nature of the polymer solution, and environmental parameters [ 79 , 80 , 81 , 82 , 83 ]. The influence of three parameters on the morphology and piezoelectric properties of PVDF is introduced in the following section.…”

“…Nanofibers created utilizing electrospinning technology have shown outstanding wound healing properties. Their architecture closely resembles the human ECM structure and may be used as a dressing to promote cell adhesion and proliferation, eventually prompting new skin regeneration [ 105 , 106 ]. Simultaneously, the high permeability and absorption rate may absorb the exudate created on the trauma site and keep the healing environment moist [ 107 , 108 ].…”

“…These properties can support cell synthesis of specific proteins and other biochemical and biological processes required for healthy tissue growth [28,83]. Therefore, electrospun fibers have become excellent candidates for various applications, such as catalysis [84], filtration [85], water treatment [86][87][88][89], biosensors [90][91][92], food packaging [93,94], cosmetics [95] and biomedicine [96][97][98][99][100][101].…”
