Malaysia is currently focusing on providing affordable housing all over the country, as part of the plan to tackle the problem of the rising costs of house ownership due to reasons such as the economic crisis and land limitations. However, a limited number of methodical studies have been conducted on residents' feedback on the indoor environment of affordable housing. Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) is an important aspect of occupants' wellbeing, as it affects their health and productivity. Therefore, evaluating residents' feedback on IEQ is an important step in gauging building performance and conditions. In addition, the health and productivity of residents needs to be evaluated in order to identify the effect of IEQ on them. A questionnaire survey was used to achieve the study objectives and to gain access to the respondents' views and feedback. The pilot questionnaire study was conducted at two housing apartments in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the data collected were evaluated and analyzed using SPSS software. The outcome of this pilot study is significant, as it shows the residents' dissatisfaction level towards IEQ factors such as noise, glare and privacy, and other aspects of IEQ that are important, such as ventilation. Additionally, it has been found that the IEQ of the residents does affect their health and productivity. It is anticipated that the outcome of this study will serve as an indicator of building performance improvements needed to achieve a better indoor environment quality for affordable housing in Malaysia.

Sustainability of the settlements has been a concern in the SDGs, especially goal no. 11. It focuses on ensuring adequate, safe, and affordable housing, increase the resilience toward disaster, as well as reduce the environmental impacts. Indonesia is one of the developing countries that has been facing the sustainability challenge of settlement in the form of slums. Many of them are found in the riverside area, which would threaten environmental sustainability in the long term. This study aims to explore the essential sustainability factors of the riverside settlement by comparing two cases, namely, Kampong Code and Kampong Sumeneban. Those kampongs have different conditions, where Kampong Code tends to be better than Kampong Sumeneban. The questionnaires have been distributed to 50 households in respective kampong to obtained the data. Also accompanied by the interview to the prominent persons of the kampongs. Scoring and descriptive statistical analysis have been carried out to answer the goal. The result shows that Kampong Code is more sustainable than Kampong Sumeneban. The most striking gap is found on ecological aspects and supports from other stakeholders. These points, further, would be essential to develop the more sustainable riverside settlement.

The Year of India marked the 34th anniversary of Kennesaw State University's (KSU) award-winning annual country study program. The program has been a major force for internationalizing our campus introducing thousands of students to the rich diversity of world cultures that make up the human family and helping them to develop a complex understanding of today's interdependent world. The program draws upon the expertise of our faculty to offer special courses, organize lectures and events, engage in collaborative research, partner with Indian universities and community groups, and mentor and assist students interested in learning about India and its place in a global society. Rather than simply continue the program's traditional format, the Year of India witnessed the implementation of several new features including the integration of a new organizational model that seeks to empower academic colleges by providing them with a more active role in program development and more focused intentional curricular connections. The new model also provides enhanced leadership opportunities for faculty with expertise related to the country of study. Finally, the new model provides a very exciting and unique opportunity for students to enroll in an interdisciplinary team-taught course with a very affordable study abroad component. As a way of introducing our campus community to India, I published the following essay on-line making it widely available before the program began. The essay is reprinted here as a way to help readers, especially those unfamiliar with Indian history and society, have a valuable entry point for further learning, inquiry, and understanding of India, as well as to provide a useful introduction to the issues examined in this volume. Unity in Diversity North, South, Central, East, and West across India the winds of change constantly blow. While Indian history, like all great civilizations, is replete with wars and violence, India is remarkable for its emphasis on non-violence and peaceful coexistence across religious and cultural differences.
