“…The variation of SFT with PFSA concentration in the brine solution was similar to that in aqueous solution. For the present polymeric surfactants not containing fluorine, CMC was almost higher than 1.0 g l −1 and the surface tensions were commonly 37–55 mN m −1 at CMC [ 15 , 21 – 25 ]. Therefore, compared with the polymeric surfactants without C–F bonds reported in the literature, the surface activity of PFSA was stronger and its CMC in aqueous and brine solutions was much lower.…”

“…The weak chemical shift d (2.26 ppm) and f (4.05 ppm), characteristic of CH-and OH-, respectively, are also found. According to the previous studies [52,55], the substitution degree of C n H 2n þ 1 OH along EMA backbones is calculated based on the area ratio of CH 3 group (a ¼0.88) of side chain and CH 2 (e¼ 3.65 ppm) of EMA. Table 1 gives the results of substitution degree.…”

“…Particularly, the surface of hydrophobic main chain is more easily to be covered by the ethoxy group on side chains, resulting to the increase of water solubility of SA‐M 23,24 . Simultaneously, the hydrophilic side chain of SA‐M furthers its hydrophilic property and weakens the ability to enrich and adsorb at surface 25 . A comparison with commercial TERSPERSE® 2700 (copolymer of styrene and Na methacrylate) is carried out to demonstrate the superiority of the developed comb‐like polymeric surfactant 26 .…”

“…The Gibbs' law is used to calculate the adsorption and aggregation data of amphiphilic polymeric surfactant 25 . According to Gibbs' law, the saturation surface excess concentrations ( Γ max ) and the minimum area per molecule ( A min ) values are calculated by the Gibbs adsorption isotherm equation (Equations ) and ()) 25 …”
