Aging as a Related Factor of the Nursing Diagnosis Impaired Memory: Content Validation

Abstract: PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to conduct a content validation for the elements of the nursing diagnosis Impaired Memory and include aging as a related factor. METHOD. Fehring's (1987) model of diagnosis content validation was used, with the participation of 18 experts. FINDING. “…The literature indicates that in Brazil, there is some difficulty in identifying nurses who meet all the recommendations in this model (Bergamasco, Rossi, Carvalho, & Dalri, ). The present study involved the participation of 45 experts, which did not meet the amount of experts established by Fehring (), and therefore must be considered as a limitation of the validation process (Chaves, Barros, & Marini, ). However, as the number of experts was quite close to this recommendation, it does increase the possibility of generalizing the results obtained, strengthening the validation of this diagnosis.…”
