Agronomical traits associated with yield and yield components of winter wheat as affected by nitrogen managements

Abstract: Nitrogen fertilizer is one of the key elements to increase the yield and significance of winter wheat. The experiment was established in the split zone design and was repeated three times. The nitrogen application level is set to 4 treatments, 75, 150, 225 and 300 kg ha −1 are arranged in the main plot, and different nitrogen application ratios are arranged in the sub-plots, respectively 5:5 (50%+50%) and 6: 4 (60%) + 40%). Nitrogen fertilizer was applied before sowing, jointing stage, f… Show more

“…Wheat is one of the most important food crops in the world [1,2], the nutritional value and economic value of which are very considerable as it provides vital quantities of high-quality starch, protein, vitamins, and other nutrients [3,4]. As the world's largest producer and consumer of wheat, the development of wheat industry in China is of great significance to guarantee not only social stability, but also world food security [5,6].…”

“…This is the key problem that needs to be solved urgently. 4,5 Wheat is an important cereal crop and one of the largest grain crops in terms of planting area among all crops. 6 However, the rate of global production growth has been declining and production appears to be stabilizing in many major wheat-producing regions.…”

“…Optimization of N provisioning strongly influences yield related agronomic traits [13] , N assimilation rates and photosynthetic capacity [14] as well as biomass and many other physiological attributes in cereals [15] . However, in order to optimize N application in crop production, it is essential to appreciate how cereal plants respond to higher N accessibility and the underlying regulation of the process.…”
