Aldolase Enzymes for Complex Synthesis

Abstract: Dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP)-dependent aldolases are powerful catalysts for synthesis of carbohydrates and related compounds, such as iminocyclitols. Their utility is limited by the strict requirement for DHAP, an expensive, unstable compound, as donor substrate.
